  I have had really good luck deterring pests - neighbor's poopy cats, raccoons, skunks, squirrels - with a motion-detector water sprayer called a Scarecrow. Love it! and it is much friendlier than the BB gun!

  ps it is a bit pricey, but well worth it, and their customer service is really great if you break part of it as I did - they sent me new parts for free in a few days after calling them!
